Ribab Jam is part of the global music project Orchestra of Samples by artists Addictive TV who create new music by sampling musicians they recorded and filmed around the world.

The track takes its name from the lead instrument, the ribab - a single string bowed violin-type instrument from Morocco recorded with Ahmed Bijdiguen in the southern desert outside the small city of Tiznit.

Ribab Jam takes on a laid back ska-like vibe with the ribab at times almost sounding like a muted trumpet, blending magically with the calypso-influenced guitar of Luis Camacho recorded in Colombia’s Caribbean port city of Cartagena. The two then happened to work perfectly with improvised vocals that were recorded in Panjim, India with Deetshida Murali.

With 11 musicians sampled for Ribab Jam, this track contains more instruments than any other in the whole project, including the west African kalimba and a Dominican güira percussion scraper.
